ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel
ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel
ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel is an anti-perching solution designed to prevent pigeons, seagulls, sparrows, starlings, swallows and other birds from landing or nesting in specific areas of buildings, homes, warehouses, terraces, roofs, cornices, façades, window sills, railings and covered structures.
Its formula works mainly through smell and touch, creating an unpleasant sensation for birds when they try to land on the treated area. This helps discourage them from returning to the site and reduces the dirt, droppings, bad odours and hygiene problems associated with their presence.
ByeBirds is formulated with active ingredients of natural origin, such as natural peppermint oil and natural lavender oil. The product contains no substances of potential concern. Handling it and using it as intended does not require personal protective equipment.
How does ByeBirds work?
ByeBirds does not work as a rigid physical barrier, but as a sensory anti-perching repellent.
When a bird tries to land on the treated surface, it comes into contact with the gel and feels an unpleasant sensation on its feet. The texture of the product makes it difficult for the bird to perch normally, causing it to lose stability or feel unsafe in that spot.
The smell of the product also reinforces the deterrent effect. ByeBirds is designed to act on birds’ behavioural and nesting patterns, helping them stop seeing the treated area as a suitable place to land, rest or build nests.
The aim is not to harm the bird, but to encourage it to gradually leave the area and find somewhere else to perch.

Natural composition
ByeBirds is formulated with active ingredients of natural origin:
- Natural peppermint oil.
- Natural lavender oil.
The product contains no substances of potential concern. Handling it and using it as intended does not require personal protective equipment.
280 g cartridge coverage
ByeBirds comes in a 280 g silver-coloured cartridge.
Each cartridge provides approximately:
- 15 applications of 18 g.
- Between 4 and 4.7 linear metres when applied in trays.
Actual coverage may vary depending on the level of infestation, the distance between applications, the amount of gel used and the width of the surface you want to protect.
How to apply ByeBirds Gel
ByeBirds can be applied in two ways: onto optional trays or directly in a line on the area to be protected.
Application with trays
The trays are an optional accessory. They allow the product to be applied in a cleaner, more organised and more controlled way, especially on surfaces where you do not want to place the gel directly.
To apply ByeBirds with trays:
- Thoroughly clean the surface where the product will be installed.
- Make sure the area is dry before installation.
- Fix the trays to the surface using silicone or polyurethane adhesive.
- Apply approximately 20 g of ByeBirds inside each tray.
- Place the trays in a straight line, following the recommended spacing according to the severity of the problem.
- If the problem is severe or the surface is very wide, install a second line of trays.
Do not install the product on rainy days, as moisture can affect the correct adhesion of the silicone or polyurethane.
Direct line application
ByeBirds can also be applied directly onto the surface, forming a continuous line of approximately 1 cm thick.
This application method is especially recommended for sparrows, where applying the gel in a continuous straight line is advised instead of using trays.
Line application can also be useful on cornices, ledges, beams, narrow structures or areas where birds always perch along a specific line.
If the surface is very wide, apply several lines of gel, leaving enough spacing to cover the area properly. The key point is that the bird must always touch the gel when it tries to land. If it can land on the surface without coming into contact with the product, the application may not be sufficient.
Before applying ByeBirds, carefully observe where the birds land and make sure you cover the exact contact points.
Installation tips
For ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel to work properly, the most important thing is to place it exactly where birds land, rest or have built nests. The aim is that, when they try to return to that area, they come into contact with the gel and stop seeing it as a comfortable or safe place.
Before installing the product, clean the surface and remove any nests, droppings or dirt. The area must be dry to ensure good adhesion, especially if you are using trays fixed with silicone or polyurethane adhesive.
As a general rule, the distance between trays should not be greater than the wingspan of the bird you want to deter. If the bird can perch between two points without touching the gel, the installation may not be sufficient. On wide surfaces or in areas with heavy bird pressure, it may be necessary to apply two or more parallel lines of ByeBirds.
For larger birds, such as seagulls or crows, it is advisable to apply more product per point, usually more than 30 g per tray, and reduce the distance between applications.
If birds are still appearing in the treated area after two weeks, add more product to the affected points or reinforce the installation with more trays or gel lines. This usually indicates that the amount applied is not sufficient or that the birds can still land without touching the product.
Do not install the product on rainy days or on wet surfaces, as moisture can affect the adhesion of the silicone or polyurethane and cause the trays to come loose.
Recommended distance between applications
The distance between application points depends on the level of bird pressure and whether the area is used for nesting, resting or occasional perching.
| Type of area | Recommended dose | Recommended distance between trays |
|---|---|---|
| Area where nests were present | 20-30 g per tray | 5-10 cm |
| High-pressure area: nesting areas or night-time roosting spots | 20-25 g per tray | 15 cm |
| Medium-pressure area: daytime perching, resting or food-searching areas | 20 g per tray | 20 cm |
| Low-pressure area: occasional perching areas or new resting spots | 20 g per tray | 25-30 cm |
Each installation should be assessed according to the type of bird, the number of birds, the width of the surface and the conditions of the building. As a general rule, the more severe the problem, the more product you will need and the shorter the distance between applications should be.
Direct application for sparrows and narrow surfaces
To deter sparrows or protect narrow areas where birds perch in a line, you can apply ByeBirds directly onto the surface, forming a continuous line of approximately 1 cm thick.
If the surface is wide, apply several parallel lines. The key point is that the bird must always touch the gel when trying to land. If it can place its feet on an area with no product, the application will need to be reinforced.
Note on product loss
Birds do not eat ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel. If you notice that product is missing from the trays, it is usually because birds have carried away a small amount on their feet, feathers or beak after coming into contact with the gel. In that case, refill the affected trays and check whether the area needs to be reinforced with more application points.
Pack of 15 trays for ByeBirds Gel
For cleaner and more precise application, you can use the Pack of 15 trays for ByeBirds Gel.
The trays allow you to apply the gel neatly, control the amount used more easily and avoid direct contact between the product and certain surfaces. Simply fix each tray with silicone or polyurethane adhesive and apply the gel inside.
They are designed to withstand different temperature conditions and adapt to different types of installation. They feature UV protection, central holes for fixing them with silicone and outer holes to allow water to drain.
They are especially useful on cornices, window sills, railings, beams, ledges and other areas where you want to install the product in separate application points.
Product lifespan
ByeBirds provides long-lasting protection: more than 2 years outdoors and between 5 and 7 years indoors.
The product is designed to withstand extreme temperatures, long periods of sunlight, rain, cold, dust and dirt.
It does not require fixed periodic reapplication. If birds remain in the treated area after two weeks, add more product to the affected points or reinforce the installation with more gel lines or more trays. This usually indicates that the amount applied is not sufficient or that the birds can still perch without touching the product.
Usage recommendations
- Apply ByeBirds exactly where birds land or nest.
- Clean away droppings, nests or dirt beforehand.
- Do not install trays on wet surfaces.

Frequently asked questions about ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel
What makes ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel different from other repellents?
ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel does not only work when the bird comes into direct contact with the product. Its effect begins beforehand, as birds can detect it through its smell and by noticing the presence of the gel in the treated area.
When a bird touches the product, it may carry a small amount on its feet, feathers or beak, which prolongs the sensation of rejection for a while and reinforces the deterrent effect.
How long does ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel last?
Under suitable conditions, ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel can last for more than 2 years outdoors and between 5 and 7 years indoors.
Over time, the product may become covered with dust or dirt, or harden slightly on the outside. This does not mean it has lost effectiveness: the inside of the gel remains active and, if a bird comes into contact with it and disturbs it, it returns to its original texture.
When will birds leave the treated area?
This depends on the correct application of the product, the level of bird pressure in the area and whether the recommended quantities and distances have been followed.
If the dosage and placement are correct, birds may leave the area from the moment the product is installed. In some cases, especially when birds have a deeply established habit, the process may take up to 2 weeks.
How often do I need to refill the trays?
In most installations, it is not necessary to refill the trays or reapply the product periodically.
If some birds return to a specific area after 2 weeks, this usually means that not enough product was applied, that too many birds are concentrated in a small area, or that they can still perch without touching the gel.
In these cases, refill the empty trays and consider reinforcing the installation with more application points or additional lines of gel.
Can it be applied directly, or do I have to use trays?
ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel can be applied in two ways: directly onto the surface or using optional trays.
The trays allow for a cleaner, more organised and more controlled application. They are especially recommended when you want to avoid direct contact between the gel and the surface, or when you want to install the product in separate application points.
You can also apply the product directly in a line, forming a strip of approximately 1 cm thick. If the surface is wide, it may be necessary to apply several lines to ensure that the bird always touches the gel when trying to land.
How is ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel applied?
The cartridge is applied with a silicone gun, not included.
The cartridge has a wide nozzle that makes it easier for the gel to come out, both when filling the trays and when applying the product in lines directly onto the surface.
Before applying the product, clean the area and make sure it is dry. If you are using trays, first fix them with silicone or polyurethane adhesive and then fill the inner circle with the correct amount of gel.
What are the ByeBirds trays like?
The ByeBirds trays are designed to make gel application clean and stable in different types of installation.
They are made to withstand different temperature conditions and include UV protection. The inner circle acts as a guide for applying the correct amount of gel, while the central holes allow the trays to be fixed with silicone. They also include outer holes to allow water to drain.
How do I clean ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel residue?
Gel residue can be cleaned with a cloth, a brush, soap and water, or another cleaning product suitable for the surface.
If the product has been in place for a long time, you may need to scrub lightly to remove it completely.
Is ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel safe?
Yes. ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel is formulated with active ingredients of natural origin and traditional use.
The product contains no substances of potential concern. Handling it and using it as intended does not require personal protective equipment.
Do not ingest. If accidentally swallowed, it is advisable to consult a doctor. Wash your hands with soap and water after use.
Is ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel rain-resistant?
Yes. ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel is not affected by rain, even when installed on vertical surfaces.
However, it should not be installed on rainy days or on wet surfaces, as moisture may prevent the silicone or polyurethane used to fix the trays from adhering properly.
Is it resistant to cold and heat?
Yes. ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel withstands extreme temperatures, from -40 °C to 120 °C, without being altered.
If you use trays, make sure the silicone or adhesive used to fix them is also resistant to cold and heat. Otherwise, the gel may remain in good condition, but the trays could come loose.
Does dust or dirt reduce its effectiveness?
No. Dust and dirt do not significantly affect the effectiveness, performance or lifespan of ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel.
Its mode of action does not depend on the product being sticky, so it can remain effective even if it becomes superficially dirty over time.
Why might some liquid appear when opening the cartridge?
In some cases, the container may release a few drops of oil, especially if it has been stored for a long time or exposed to high temperatures.
This does not alter the product’s characteristics, affect its effectiveness or pose any risk to the user. You can clean off the excess liquid and use the product as normal.
How should I store ByeBirds Bird Repellent Gel?
Keep the cartridge closed when you are not using it.
Store it in its original container, away from food, in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, at room temperature and out of reach of children and pets.
The cartridge cap allows you to store the product if you do not finish it during installation.
