Description
The Econex Solid Wood Nesting Box for Flycatchers is a specialized shelter designed to encourage the nesting of insectivorous woodland birds such as the Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata), European Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca), and Collared Flycatcher (Ficedula albicollis), as well as redstarts and robins.
Crafted entirely from 2 cm thick solid pine, this nesting box holds PEFC and FSC certifications, ensuring the wood comes from sustainably and socially responsibly managed forests. To ensure a long lifespan outdoors, it features an exterior wood stain with a single-component translucent honey-hazelnut finish.
Its functional design includes an open-top front and a forward-swinging bottom door, allowing for easy egg monitoring and annual cleaning tasks. It is an essential tool for conservation projects, private gardens, and forest areas aiming to strengthen local ecosystems by supporting insectivorous bird populations.

Installation and Maintenance Tips
For best results, it is recommended to install the nesting box during late autumn, placing it at a height of 2 to 5 meters on a tree or wall. The ideal orientation is south-southeast, in a quiet spot sheltered from prevailing winds and out of reach of predators.
Maintenance should be carried out between October and November, once the birds have left the nest. We suggest cleaning the interior with boiling water to eliminate parasites. Important: Do not handle the nesting box during the chicks' breeding season.
