Weitech WK8021 Citronella Mosquito Coils for Outdoor Use

Weitech WK8021 Citronella Mosquito Coils offer a simple way to help keep mosquitoes away while you relax on a patio, balcony or terrace, in the garden or anywhere else outdoors. Made from compressed wood fibre with a citronella fragrance, they require no batteries, power socket or application to the skin.

Once the end is lit, the initial flame goes out after a few moments and the coil continues to smoulder slowly, releasing a light stream of citronella-scented smoke. Each coil burns for up to 6 hours and disperses its fragrance within an approximate 1.5-metre radius. With 10 coils in each pack, you get up to 60 hours of total burn time.

How do citronella mosquito coils work?

Citronella coils burn slowly in much the same way as incense. As they smoulder, they release a light stream of citronella-scented smoke into the surrounding area, helping to make it less attractive to mosquitoes. They do not trap or kill insects; they are designed to help keep mosquitoes at a distance while you spend time outdoors.

The effect is concentrated around the coil. For best results, place it close to the area you are using and protect it from strong winds. Always position it on a stable, heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated outdoor space.

How to set up and light a mosquito coil

1. The coils come interlocked in pairs. Separate them gently without forcing them to avoid breakage.
2. Take one of the metal holders supplied and raise the centre section until the pointed end is horizontal.
3. Fit the notch in the centre of the coil over the tip of the holder, then tilt the coil until it is upright.
4. Place the holder on a stable, heat-resistant plate or base. The plate is not included.
5. Light the end of the coil with a match or lighter. After a few moments, the flame will go out and the coil will continue to smoulder slowly.
6. To stop the coil before it has completely burned, break it a few centimetres behind the glowing section and extinguish the lit end with water.

Where to use citronella mosquito coils

WK8021 mosquito coils are designed exclusively for outdoor use on patios, balconies, terraces, in gardens, on porches and at campsites. They are particularly useful during outdoor meals, evening drinks, gatherings or when simply relaxing outside.

One coil releases its citronella fragrance within an approximate radius of 1.5 metres. In larger areas, you may need to position several coils around the seating area, each on its own holder and heat-resistant base.

• Never leave a burning coil unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished after use.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after handling.
• Warning (EUH208): contains limonene, also known as (R)-p-mentha-1,8-diene, an aromatic substance that may produce an allergic reaction.
• Dispose of used coils with household waste, following the instructions on the packaging.
