Best-selling bird repellers: how to choose the right solution for your case
At BirdGard Iberia you will find a selection of our best-selling bird repellers, widely used by our customers to protect roofs, terraces, balconies, solar panels, boats, gardens, warehouses, industrial roofs and other areas where birds can cause dirt, damage or nuisance.
Not every bird problem can be solved with the same system. To choose the right solution, it is important to consider three factors: which bird species you want to deter, where the birds perch or nest, and the surface area you need to protect.
On this page, we bring together some of the most common solutions for deterring pigeons, seagulls, sparrows and other birds, explaining when each product may be the most suitable option.
Which bird repeller should you choose depending on the problem?
| Problem you want to solve | Most suitable solution | Recommended product |
|---|---|---|
| Pigeons, seagulls or other birds in large areas | Sonic bird repeller | BirdGard Pro or MultiSound BS-20L |
| Birds on terraces, gardens or small roofs | Birds of prey sounds + LED flashes | Solar Sonic Bird Repeller WK0109 |
| Birds under solar panels | Physical anti-nesting barrier | BirdBlocker |
| Pigeons on ledges, sills or specific perching points | Physical anti-perching system | Bird Coil - Pigeon Deterrent or Pigeon Spikes |
| Seagulls on boats | Specific anti-perching system for boats | StopGull Air |
| Birds in gardens, orchards, roofs or open areas | Visual bird repeller | Hawk ScareCrow - Eolo |
| Complex problems with persistent birds | Sounds + ultrasounds | BroadBand Pro |
Sonic bird repellers: when to choose them
Sonic bird repellers are one of the most commonly used solutions when birds regularly frequent a large area or repeatedly return to the same place. These devices emit distress calls, warning sounds or predator sounds to create a feeling of danger in the protected area.
They are especially useful for roofs, warehouses, crops, agricultural facilities, industrial areas or spaces where preventing perching in one specific point is not enough.
Within this product family, it is important to distinguish between professional devices with larger coverage, alternative acoustic systems and more compact solutions for terraces, gardens or smaller areas.
BirdGard Pro: sonic bird repeller for medium-sized areas
The BirdGard Pro is one of the most widely used bioacoustic bird repellers. It is a compact device with an approximate coverage of up to 0.6 hectares and can be configured with different chips depending on the bird species you want to deter.
It can be a suitable option for pigeons, seagulls, sparrows, starlings and other birds, provided that the correct model or chip is selected for the species involved.
MultiSound BS-20L: professional acoustic alternative to BirdGard devices
In addition to BirdGard models, at BirdGard Iberia we also work with alternative acoustic solutions such as the MultiSound BS-20L.
The MultiSound BS-20L is a professional acoustic bird repeller, available in versions for pigeons, seagulls and other birds. It can be an interesting option if you are looking for a professional sonic bird repeller and want to consider an alternative to BirdGard devices.
This solution expands the range of options available within sonic bird repellers and allows the recommendation to be better adapted to the bird species, the surface area to be protected and the specific needs of each installation.
WK0109: solar sonic bird repeller for terraces, gardens and smaller areas
The Solar Sonic Bird Repeller WK0109 also belongs to the family of sonic bird repellers, but it is designed for a different use than professional devices with larger coverage.
This model includes a solar panel, reproduces birds of prey sounds and adds high-intensity LED flashes to reinforce the deterrent effect. Due to its characteristics, it is better suited to terraces, gardens, small roofs, vegetable gardens or areas where an autonomous solution is required for a smaller surface.
We do not recommend it as a direct alternative to a BirdGard Pro or a MultiSound BS-20L in a large warehouse or roof. Instead, it is a practical option for small or medium-sized areas where you want to combine sound, light and solar operation.
BroadBand Pro: complete solution with sounds and ultrasounds
The BroadBand Pro is a more complete solution within sonic bird repellers, as it combines audible sounds and ultrasounds.
It can be interesting in cases where a more advanced device is required or when different types of stimuli are needed to increase the deterrent effect against persistent birds.
As with other bird repellers, its effectiveness can improve when combined with visual elements, especially if the birds are already used to visiting the area.
The Hawk ScareCrow: an ideal complement to reinforce other solutions
The Hawk ScareCrow - Eolo simulates the flight of a hawk in a very realistic way. It is a visual solution commonly used in gardens, orchards, roofs, warehouses, large terraces and areas where birds regularly approach.
It is also an ideal complement to many other bird deterrent systems, whether they are sonic repellers such as BirdGard Pro, MultiSound BS-20L, WK0109 or BroadBand Pro, or physical solutions that prevent birds from perching or accessing an area, such as BirdBlocker, pigeon spikes or StopGull Air.
Combining different solutions often improves the effectiveness of the system. For example, when a sonic bird repeller is combined with the Hawk ScareCrow, birds hear distress calls or predator sounds and, at the same time, see a figure that simulates the presence of a hawk in the area. This combination creates a synergistic effect: the bird receives several danger signals at once and perceives the space as less safe.
It can also be useful as a reinforcement for physical solutions. For example, BirdBlocker prevents birds from entering under solar panels, spikes make it difficult for birds to perch on ledges or sills, and StopGull Air prevents seagulls from landing on specific points of a boat. If a visual stimulus such as the Hawk ScareCrow is also added, birds are less likely to keep approaching the protected area.
Physical and anti-perching solutions: when the problem is localised
When birds always perch in the same place, it is not always necessary to cover a large area with sound. In many cases, the most direct solution is to physically prevent them from perching or accessing the area.
This type of solution is especially useful on ledges, sills, balconies, boats, solar panels or specific points where birds repeatedly rest.
BirdBlocker: solution for birds under solar panels
When birds enter under solar panels, the main problem is usually not just perching. The biggest risk is that they use the space under the panels as a shelter or nesting area.
BirdBlocker is specifically designed to block birds’ access to the space between the solar panels and the roof. It helps prevent the accumulation of nests, twigs, feathers and droppings under the photovoltaic installation.
In installations where birds also regularly perch around the panels, it may be useful to reinforce the physical barrier with a visual repeller such as the Hawk ScareCrow or with a sonic bird repeller, depending on the case.
Pigeon spikes: solution for ledges, sills and perching areas
Pigeon spikes are a physical solution to prevent pigeons and other birds from perching on specific surfaces. They work especially well when the problem is located on ledges, sills, balconies, beams, railings or linear areas where birds usually land.
At BirdGard Iberia you can find the Bird Coil - Pigeon Deterrent, an aesthetic, effective and harmless option, as well as standard Pigeon Spikes, flexible and adaptable to different surfaces.
If pigeons are not only perching on a specific point but are also frequently present throughout the whole area, it may be advisable to combine the spikes with a visual repeller such as the Hawk ScareCrow or with a sonic bird repeller.
StopGull Air: seagull repeller for boats
On boats, seagulls and other coastal birds often perch on specific points such as biminis, handrails, booms, hatches, covers or raised elements of the boat.
StopGull Air is specifically designed to prevent seagulls from landing on boats. Its arms rotate with the wind and make it difficult for birds to perch in the protected area.
It is especially suitable when the problem does not affect a large surface, but rather specific points of the boat. In some cases, it can be reinforced with additional visual solutions to reduce the presence of birds around the boat.
Which solution should you choose for pigeons, seagulls or sparrows?
For pigeons
Pigeons are very persistent birds and can be difficult to deter. It is difficult to remove them 100%, but there are tools that can help reduce the problem and keep it more under control so that it does not get worse.
If the problem affects a large area, it is usually advisable to use a sonic bird repeller such as BirdGard Pro, MultiSound BS-20L, WK0109 or BroadBand Pro, depending on the surface area and type of installation. To improve results, we recommend combining these devices with a visual bird repeller such as the Hawk ScareCrow.
The combined effect of both solutions creates a synergistic effect: on the one hand, pigeons hear distress calls or predator sounds; on the other hand, they see a figure that simulates the flight of a hawk. By receiving both stimuli at the same time, the area becomes less attractive and feels less safe for them.
If pigeons perch on specific points, pigeon spikes may be a better fit. If they are entering under solar panels, the priority should be to block access with BirdBlocker.
For seagulls
To deter seagulls from roofs, warehouses or open areas, a sonic bird repeller combined with a visual repeller such as the Hawk ScareCrow is usually recommended. On boats, however, a specific solution such as StopGull Air usually makes more sense.
The combination of sound and visual stimulus helps reinforce the danger signal: seagulls hear sounds associated with threat and, at the same time, see a visual element that simulates the presence of a predator in the area.
Please bear in mind that if seagulls are in their breeding season, they can become very aggressive as a way to protect their chicks. In that case, you should wait until the chicks are able to leave the nest before installing bird repellers.
For sparrows
Sparrows are also very persistent birds. Inside warehouses, storage areas or places where they find food and shelter, it may be necessary to combine different methods.
Sonic bird repellers can help reduce the presence of sparrows, but it is advisable to reinforce the strategy with prior cleaning, access control and visual elements whenever possible.
In many cases, we recommend combining the sonic bird repeller with the Hawk ScareCrow. The combined effect improves effectiveness because sparrows receive several danger signals at the same time: distress calls or predator sounds and the visual presence of a possible predator in the area.
Before installing a bird repeller
Before installing any bird repeller, we recommend cleaning the area thoroughly to remove droppings, feathers, twigs, nests or accumulated dirt.
It is important to create an area that is as clean and neutral as possible, so that birds do not feel that the place belongs to them. This can significantly improve the effectiveness of the solution, especially in cases involving pigeons, seagulls or sparrows that have been using the same space for some time.

Frequently asked questions about the best-selling bird repellers
What is the best bird repeller?
There is no single bird repeller that works for every case. For large surfaces, sonic bird repellers are usually the best option. For solar panels, the most suitable solution is usually to block access to the gap under the panels. For boats, it is best to choose specific solutions such as StopGull Air. For terraces or small gardens, a solar device such as the WK0109 may be enough.
What is the difference between BirdGard Pro, MultiSound BS-20L and WK0109?
BirdGard Pro and MultiSound BS-20L are acoustic bird repellers designed for larger areas or recurring bird problems. The WK0109 also emits sounds, but it is better suited to terraces, gardens, small roofs and smaller spaces. It also includes LED flashes and an integrated solar panel.
What is the BroadBand Pro?
The BroadBand Pro is a bird repeller that combines sounds and ultrasounds. It can be interesting in cases where a more complete solution is required or where birds are especially persistent.
Is it advisable to combine a sonic bird repeller with a Hawk ScareCrow?
Yes. In many cases, especially with pigeons, seagulls or sparrows, combining sound and visual stimulus improves the result. Birds hear distress calls or predator sounds and, at the same time, see a figure that simulates the presence of a predator in the area.
Does the Hawk ScareCrow only work with sonic bird repellers?
No. The Hawk ScareCrow can also be used as a complement to physical solutions such as BirdBlocker, pigeon spikes or StopGull Air. These solutions prevent access or perching in specific points, while the hawk adds a visual danger signal that can help reduce the presence of birds in the surrounding area.
What is the best bird repeller for solar panels?
If birds are entering under the solar panels, the main solution should be a physical barrier such as BirdBlocker. Visual or sonic bird repellers can be used as a complement, but they do not replace the need to block access to the gap under the panels if birds are already entering or nesting there.
What is the best bird repeller for boats?
For boats, we recommend using solutions specifically designed for marine use, such as StopGull Air. It is designed to prevent seagulls from landing on specific points of the boat, such as biminis, handrails, booms or hatches.
Can pigeon spikes be used on any surface?
Pigeon spikes are suitable for linear surfaces such as ledges, sills, railings or beams. They are an anti-perching solution, so they work best when the problem is located in specific points where birds usually perch.
What should I do before installing a bird repeller?
Before installing any system, it is advisable to clean the area thoroughly and remove droppings, feathers, twigs or old nests. If birds still recognise the space as their own, the effectiveness of the bird repeller may be reduced.
