Pest Control
Pest control involves preventing, reducing or controlling the presence of animals and insects that may cause damage, nuisance, contamination or hygiene problems in homes, businesses, warehouses, agricultural facilities and other environments. At BirdGard Iberia, we offer products for the control of birds, rodents, insects, reptiles and other animals, using different methods depending on the species and the problem: deterrents, ultrasound, sound, lasers, physical barriers, repellents and traps.
BirdGard Iberia does not provide on-site rodent control, insect control or professional pest treatment services. Since 2008, we have specialised in selling and advising on solutions that users can install and operate themselves. To choose correctly, the first step is to identify which animal is causing the problem, where it appears and whether you need to prevent access, deter it, capture it or directly control the individuals already present.
What Pest or Animal Do You Need to Control?
Each species responds differently, and there is no single system suitable for every situation. This table will help you identify the most appropriate category:
| Problem | Common solutions | View solutions |
|---|---|---|
| Birds: pigeons, seagulls, starlings, sparrows, corvids and other species | Sound, lasers, visual deterrents, ultrasound and physical barriers | Bird Repellers |
| Rats and mice | Ultrasound, repellents, live-capture traps, mechanical traps and electric traps | Rats and Mice |
| Cats, rabbits, squirrels, martens and other animals | Ultrasound, repellents, physical barriers and traps | Animal Species |
| Wild boar | Specific deterrence and prevention systems | Repel Boars |
| Snakes and other reptiles | Repellents and deterrence systems | Scare Snakes |
| Insects: flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, wasps, bed bugs, moths and others | Traps, fly killers, repellents and prevention | Pest Control - Insects |
Bird Pest Control
Birds can cause very different problems depending on the species and the environment: droppings on buildings and terraces, crop damage, contamination in industrial facilities, nesting under solar panels or unwanted presence at airports, ports and other facilities.
Several types of systems are available. Sound bird deterrents, such as Bird Gard Pro or the MultiSound BS-20L Bird Sound Repeller, use sounds designed to make an area less attractive to certain species. Laser systems such as the Agrilaser Handheld can trigger a visual flight response, while physical barriers directly prevent access, perching or nesting in specific areas.
The right choice depends on the species, the size of the area, whether the problem is indoors or outdoors and the birds' behaviour. You can see the full range of bird repellers.
Rat and Mouse Control
Rats and mice can establish themselves in homes, warehouses, industrial buildings, agricultural facilities, garages, false ceilings and other areas where they find food, water or shelter. To control them effectively, direct action should be combined with measures to prevent new rodents from entering.
If you want to deter rodents, you can use devices such as the Rodent & Insect Repeller - WK0600, which operates using sound and ultrasound. These systems work best as part of a strategy that also includes cleaning, removing food sources and sealing entry points.
When rodents are already present, different types of traps are also available. Some allow live capture, while others are designed for direct control. The Electric Rat & Mouse Trap – Weitech WK0650, for example, eliminates the rodent with a 5000 V electric shock without using poisons or rodenticides and is designed exclusively for indoor use.
With rodent problems, no device replaces good prevention: sealing access points, storing food correctly and removing potential shelter are essential.
Control of Cats, Rabbits and Other Mammals
Cats, rabbits, squirrels, martens and other animals can cause problems in gardens, vegetable plots, buildings, warehouses or other areas where their presence is unwanted. Different methods can be used depending on the objective.
Electronic devices such as the Garden Protector 4 with Flash can make specific areas less attractive through deterrence. Physical barriers such as Fence Spikes for Cats can also make it more difficult for animals to access particular locations.
When an animal needs to be captured, the Folding Trap Cage allows live capture and is available in different sizes. Before capturing or relocating an animal, always check the regulations applicable to the species and your location.
You can explore the different solutions organised by animal in Animal Species.
Wild Boar Deterrence and Control
Wild boar can cause significant damage to gardens, crops, fields, sports facilities and peri-urban areas. In these situations, the objective is generally to reduce animals entering or remaining in a particular area.
Effectiveness will depend on factors such as the size of the area, habitual routes, food availability and the pressure of wild boar on the location. See the specific solutions in Repel Boars.
Snake and Reptile Control
In gardens, plots, warehouses and rural areas, it may be necessary to reduce the presence of snakes, lizards or other reptiles. Products are available that create a barrier or make certain areas less attractive to these animals.
The Snake and Lizard Repellent, for example, creates an olfactory barrier intended to help keep snakes, lizards, geckos and other reptiles away from specific areas.
You can find more information in Scare Snakes.
Insect Pest Control
Insects require specific solutions depending on whether they are flying or crawling species. Flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, bed bugs, moths, wasps, ants and silverfish behave very differently and should therefore not all be treated in the same way.
For flying insects, there are UV glue-board fly killers such as the ProFly Apliq - Fly Killer, as well as specific traps for flies and other insects.
For crawling insects, we offer specific solutions such as the Cockroach Trap, while products such as Nattaro Scout are designed to help detect the presence of bed bugs at an early stage.
There are also specific traps for food and clothes moths and silverfish.

Which Pest Control Method Should You Choose?
The appropriate method mainly depends on the species, location and objective. Before buying a product, it is useful to distinguish between the following strategies:
- Deterrence: aims to make an area uncomfortable or less attractive so that the animal moves away or is discouraged from settling there. Sound, ultrasound, lasers, visual stimuli and other systems can be used.
- Physical barriers: physically prevent access, perching, nesting or movement through a particular area.
- Repellents: use olfactory stimuli or other mechanisms to make particular areas less attractive.
- Live capture: allows certain animals to be retained in a cage or trap so they can subsequently be managed in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Direct control: certain traps are designed to directly eliminate rodents or insects. Electric rat and mouse traps are one example.
- Prevention: sealing entry points, removing food and water sources and reducing shelter are fundamental parts of any pest control strategy.
Pest Control in Homes, Businesses and Other Environments
The same species may require different solutions depending on where the problem occurs. It is therefore important to consider the environment before selecting a product.
| Environment | Common problems | Points to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Homes | Mice, insects, birds on balconies or terraces, cats and other animals | Safety around children and pets, indoor or outdoor use and ease of installation. |
| Warehouses and industrial buildings | Birds, rodents, flies and other insects | Surface area, height, stored food and number of entry points. |
| Hospitality and food businesses | Flies, crawling insects and rodents | Hygiene, prevention, device placement and the specific requirements of the premises. |
| Farms and agricultural facilities | Birds, rodents, wild boar, flies and other animals | Large areas, food availability and continuous pest pressure. |
| Gardens and plots | Cats, rabbits, wild boar, reptiles and other animals | Outdoor use, weather conditions and habitual entry routes. |
| Garages and vehicles | Rats, mice, martens and other small animals | Protecting wiring and identifying shelter or entry points. |
How to Improve Pest Control Effectiveness
A product works best when it is used as part of a complete strategy. Before installing any system, correctly identify the species and locate the areas with the greatest activity.
- Identify the pest: look for droppings, footprints, nests, damage, captured insects or other signs that can help determine the species.
- Locate entry points: inspect gaps, windows, roofs, doors, ducts, pipe passages and other potential access points.
- Remove food and water: store food and animal feed correctly, keep waste closed and repair leaks.
- Reduce shelter: avoid accumulations of materials and areas where animals can remain hidden.
- Choose the appropriate system: do not use a product simply because it works for another species or an apparently similar problem.
- Review the results: regularly check whether signs of activity are decreasing and adjust device placement when necessary.
When Should You Call a Professional Pest Control Company?
BirdGard Iberia products can solve or reduce many common problems, but there are situations where professional assistance is advisable.
This may be the case when there is a serious or persistent infestation, when the species has not been correctly identified, when there is a health risk, when the pest is in a difficult or dangerous location or when regulations require professional intervention.
Professional advice is also particularly advisable for serious infestations of bed bugs, cockroaches or rodents, or for wasp nests located in places where attempting removal could pose a risk.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pest Control
What types of pests can I control with BirdGard Iberia products?
We offer solutions for different species of birds, rats, mice, cats, rabbits, wild boar, reptiles and other animals, as well as products for insects such as flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, bed bugs, moths, wasps and silverfish. The appropriate method always depends on the species and where the problem occurs.
Does BirdGard Iberia provide pest control services?
No. BirdGard Iberia sells products for pest control and prevention and provides advice to help you choose the most suitable solution, but we do not provide on-site rodent control, insect control or professional pest treatment services.
How do I know which pest control product I need?
First identify the species, where the problem occurs and your objective: preventing entry, deterring the animal, capturing it or directly controlling individuals that are already present. You should also consider whether the device will be used indoors or outdoors, the size of the area and the presence of children or pets. If you are unsure, you can contact us before purchasing.
What is the difference between deterring, capturing and eliminating a pest?
Deterring means making an area less attractive so that the animal moves away or is discouraged from settling there. Capturing means retaining the animal in a trap. Eliminating means using a system designed to directly kill certain rodents or insects. Not every pest or situation requires the same method.
Can pests be controlled without using poison?
Yes. Many situations can be managed using prevention, physical barriers, sound, ultrasound, lasers, repellents or traps without rodenticides. For rats and mice, electric traps are also available to eliminate rodents without using poison. The appropriate solution depends on the species and the severity of the problem.
Does ultrasound work for every type of pest?
No. Ultrasound can be used for certain species and under certain conditions, particularly indoors, but it is not a universal solution. Ultrasound does not pass through walls or solid obstacles, and effectiveness depends on the species, environment and correct placement. Other methods are more appropriate for many pests.
When should I call a professional pest control company?
Professional help is advisable when there is a serious or persistent infestation, when there is a health risk, when you cannot correctly identify the pest, when the problem is in a difficult or dangerous location, or when regulations require specialist intervention. Professional assistance is also recommended where handling or removing the pest could pose a risk.
